I used to have the greasiest skin! It’s definitely not even an exaggeration. My makeup would start dissolving off of my face and my skin was as shiny as a mirror. My dad used to ask me if OPEC called to borrow some oil from my face…
Fortunately, my sebum production as leveled out as I’ve gotten older but there was a time when there were only a couple foundations that worked for my oil slick of a face. I’m sure you’ve guessed the first one already. Estee Lauder Double Wear!
I used to watch a lot of beauty channels on Youtube and remembered that Jaclyn Hill said she used Estee Lauder Double Wear in bridal makeup when the bride had oily skin. One day when I was at the mall I walked past an Estee Lauder counter and decided to splurge on the $43 foundation. The ladies at the ran a little machine around my face to color match me.
I was hooked! The Double Wear foundation is so matte and full coverage. My skin looked flawless! It doesn’t feel heavy either! It is heat resistant, ( I wore it on vacation in Florida), waterproof, and it controls oil. Double Wear also comes in shades various shade with cool, neutral, or warm undertones. I made it even more matte with setting powder so it was not going anywhere.
Estee Lauder Double Wear is actually sooo matte, I had to stop wearing after taking a couple of rounds of Accutane. My skin just doesn’t get as oily anymore so the foundation was actually too drying for my new skin haha
If Double Wear is not in your budget a drugstore option is the Revlon Color Stay. When my skin was really oily I wore this as my “casual” foundation. Since it’s only $13.99, I didn’t feel guilty wearing it out for fun outdoor activities. I saved my Doublewear for when I wasn’t out getting messy and sweaty.
Revlon Color Stay is incredibly matte, sometimes I didn’t need to set it with powder and it’s oil-free! It’s buildable full coverage up to 24 hours and contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin (which is still so important even if you have oily skin)! It is an amazing drugstore foundation for oily skin!
