Ever since I was a little girl I’ve been in love with all things historical. History was my favorite subject in school and I wanted to be an archaeologist. I read a quote once that said something along the lines of, in adulthood, you go back to enjoying the things you loved as a kid because now you’re not embarrassed to like them.
There was an old house I found online that I fell in love with but it’s pretty far away. It was built in the 1700s and I immediately fell in love with it. I still refer to it as “my house” because I’ve never felt so drawn to a house before and I really felt like it was meant to be mine haha. I’ve been searching high and low for a house that old and beautiful that is in a more ideal area but have yet to find one. Since then, Joel and I have been obsessing over old homes and buildings now so we took a trip to Old Salem to see the historical buildings and houses.
Joel wanted to practice with his new camera so he convinced me to dress up in this pretty white maxi dress.
Let’s be real, I didn’t need much convincing. I love dressing up and taking pictures. And as you can see, I was living my ultimate cottage core fantasy.
Walking around Old Salem felt beyond magical, even while I was running from bees! The little town looks so similar to how it probably looked 200 years ago. I was shocked to discover that people still live here! Like, people still live in some of these really old homes and buildings. I keep checking to see if any have been put on the market haha.
I felt transported back in time walking the streets of Old Salem and this white puff sleeve maxi dress made me feel fully immersed in my cottage core fantasy!
