Watermelon is a favorite fruit of mine, because it always reminds me of summer cookouts and picnics at my grandmother’s house. Not only is it sweet and delicious it’s also very low in calories, contains lycopene which is a nutrient with cancer preventing properties. It is good for cardiovascular health, and can help with muscle soreness. One of my favorite things about watermelon is that it contains the amino acid arginine which can help decrease body fat and increase lean muscle.
For a refreshing low cal drink, you can simply purée your watermelon, throw it in a juicer, or blend with some ice. One cup of watermelon balls is only about 40 calories.
